I’d like to thank The Citizen for providing this space for the candidates. My family and I wish to publicly thank Mr. VanLandingham and his family for his years of dedicated public service as the former commissioner of this post. The Rousseau family has called Fayette County home for over 12 years. As a devoted husband and father, our children attend Fayette’s public schools, we collectively support our local merchants, and entertain ourselves within the Fayette community. As a result of our choices, we have demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the quality of life within our communities. My professional and civic involvements have included: National Parks & Recreation Association (NRPA) member, Georgia Recreation & Parks Association (GRPA) member, Fayette County Race Relations Committee, Fayette Public Library Master Plan Study Group, Fayette County School Board Construction Committee member, appointed member of Fayette County Library Board and Upward Basketball Coach and mentor. I firmly believe my 20-plus years of public service experience provides me with some of the requisite skills needed by leaders. After serving for over eight years as Assistant Director of the state’s largest recreation and park provider (Fulton County) and currently as Assistant Director of Administration for the Department of General Services with responsibility for coordinating Human Resources, Contracts, Procurement and Finance, these experiences afford me the opportunity to hit the ground running if selected as your next commissioner. Having worked for three elected officials as aide, confidant, consultant, and strategist, I bring a wealth of public policy experience and coalition building skills that will serve US well. My ability to successfully bridge artificial boundaries imposed by party affiliation, race, gender and socio-economic status will help make Fayette County stronger for the future. Opportunity...Promise are hallmarks of my vision for Fayette’s future as I offer myself for public service. I will work on behalf of all citizens of Fayette County to: • Improve services to our seniors • Improve traffic flow on major corridors • Proactively manage growth • Form coalitions to develop initiatives to attract high income jobs • Explore ways to expand access to leisure and recreational activities in all areas of the county • Encourage open dialogue and cooperation among the county leaders, School Board members, municipal officials, state and federal agencies • Ensure Fayette’s health and public safety officials are prepared and have adequate resources to respond to emergencies and natural disasters Vote Charles D.
