The McIntosh Chiefs did not have a great weekend and the fact that the two losses they picked up came against local rivals make the losses sting that much more.

On Friday, the Fayette County Tigers (4-2) beat the Chiefs (3-2) 10-0 in five innings. The Tigers’ Matt Clark got the win, striking out five batters and giving up the Chiefs only hit to Nick Markhardt. John Lees pitched the final inning and struck out two of the three batters he faced. Matt Burns and Kevin Finn each hit a double that drove in two runs in the third. David Buchanan turned a crucial double play in the top of the fourth to cut short any thought of a McIntosh rally. The Tigers would add six more runs in the bottom of the inning to seal the win.

On Saturday, the Chiefs fared batter at the plate but Starr’s Mill (7-0) got some clutch two out hits and capitalized on some errors. Spencer Shelton got the win for the Panthers. while Brendan Hall, who pitched four innings, striking out eight batters, got the loss. Jimmy Tanner and Scooter Houston each went 2-for-3 at the plate for Starr’s Mill with Tanner driving in one run with a triple and Houston driving in two runs of his own. Hitters for the Chiefs were Hall, Cameron Wallis, Jake Tanis and Eric Weiss.
