An Arizona woman died Friday evening in a motor vehicle crash on Ga. Highway 314 near Kenwood Road, police said.

Helen Mumma, 86, of Youngstown, Ariz. was the passenger in a vehicle that was struck when the driver turned into the path of another vehicle, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

The vehicle’s driver, Margaret Ann Kline, 58, of Fayetteville, was going south on Hwy. 314 when she attempted to turn left onto Kenwood Road, police said. Kline’s vehicle was struck by another vehicle going north on Hwy. 314, impacting on the passenger’s side of Kline’s 2004 Nissan Maxima where Mumma was sitting, police said.

The impact of the collision forced Kline’s vehicle to strike a third car, which was waiting at the stop light, police said. A 1-year-old child in that third car was safely secured in a car seat, police said.

This is the first fatal motor vehicle crash in unincorporated Fayette County this year. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.
