Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will celebrate its heritage at a Festival Worship Service Sunday, Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. in the new auditorium at McIntosh High School. This will be the only service during All Saints’ Weekend.

The theme is “Celebrating Christ Our Shepherd: The First Thirty Years . . . The Journey in Discipleship Continues.” The church’s first worship service took place on the first Sunday of Advent in 1974, and the church became an officially-constituted congregation in June, 1975.

The service will include liturgy and hymn selections from the three hymnals the church has used, dating from 1958, 1978 and 1995, respectively. Also included will be contemporary Christian music, including songs by Christ Our Shepherd musicians Lans P. Rothfusz and Gary R. Pederson.

Nine musical organizations will lead in worship: Shepherd’s Flock Singers (grades 2-5), Joyful Noise Ringers, Sunday Evening Praise Team, GraceFlock Praise Team, Adult Choir, Christ Our Shepherd Brass, EIII Band, Christ Our Shepherd Flute Choir and the new Little Lambs Ringers (kindergarten-first grade).
