Will also remain assistant city manager

Instead of hiring a new developmental services director, Peachtree City officials have appointed Assistant City Manager Colin Halterman to the position, it was announced Friday morning.

Halterman will also continue as assistant city manager, enabling “significant saving” in salary and benefits for the city, according to City Manager Bernie McMullen.

The developmental services director oversees the planning, engineering and building departments. Halterman has been serving in that position since November after former director Clyde Stricklin resigned.

As assistant city manager, Halterman oversees the city’s city’s administrative, financial, leisure and public services divisions, also focusing on developing the city’s stormwater management program. Halterman has been in that position since May 2003 after he served as interim city manager.

Halterman started here in 1984 as director of the city’s public works department.
