Following Paris Bennett's American Idol experience

Well, she’s made it to Hollywood, and by this time next week we’ll know if Paris Bennett has made the list of the top 12 female contestants on American Idol.

Bennett, a 17 year old Fayetteville, Ga. resident, first appeared on American Idol at the Greensboro, NC auditions, which aired Jan. 24 on FOX. Bennett wowed audiences and judges, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, alike with her renditions of “Cowboy Take Me Away,” by The Dixie Chicks and “Take Five” by Billie Holliday.

Bennett’s most recent appearance on the hit reality show came Wednesday night with the first episode of “Hollywood Week,” a week in which contestants are whittled from 175 hopefuls down to 12 females and 12 males.

Bennett, the granddaughter of Grammy Award winning gospel singer Ann Nesby, sang “Can’t Fight the Moonlight,” by LeAnn Rimes for her second-round audition. Her performance once again impressed judges, and she was quickly congratulated on making it to the next round.

If Bennett makes it through the next round of cuts, which will air on American Idol on Tuesday, Feb. 14 and Wednesday, Feb. 15, she will be a member of the top 12 female contestants.
Once the top 24 contestants are in place, the show goes live and audience voting will commence.

Check back regularly to find out how Bennett is faring in the competition.
