Teams get big wins, prepare for rivalries on Friday night

The Starr’s Mill Lady Panthers (4-1) handed the East Coweta Lady Panthers (7-1) their first loss of the season on Tuesday night by defeating them 4-0. Gina Goforth scored a hat trick in the game and Laura McCalla scored the other goal, while McCalla, Katie Jacobsen and Tanna Castro (2) assisted on the goals. Allie Matulia and Katelynn Morgan shared goalkeeping duties. Matulia made five saves, while Morgan made four saves.

The Starr’s Mill boys (4-1-1) defeated the Indians (4-3) 3-0 with goals coming from Chris Capati (2) and Keegan Hanie.
Starr’s Mill, ranked seventh in AAAAA, will play at Whitewater, ranked fourth in AAAA, at 6 p.m. tonight. The boys, ranked fifth in AAAAA, will meet the Wildcats, ranked third in AAAA, at 8 p.m.

Whitewater’s boys and girls took on Sandy Creek on Tuesday night and both posted shutouts. The Lady Wildcats (4-0-1) won 9-0, while the boys (5-1-1) won 4-0. Scorers for the boys were Brian Forero, Matt McCrite and Kris Gilmore. The girls got hat tricks from Brittany Vining and Bailey Powell, while Kayla Emerson added two and Jade Ah-low scored one. Katie Schwarz played well defensively for the Lady Wildcats and Claire Huff made some great serves.

McIntosh’s boys and girls hosted Heritage on Tuesday night. The boys (3-2), ranked fourth in AAAA, won 6-0. The Lady Chiefs (4-2), ranked fifth in AAAA, won 8-0. On Monday night the Lady Chiefs handed Northgate a 2-0 loss. McIntosh’s boys and girls will play at Fayette County tonight at 6 and 8 p.m. Northgate’s boys and girls will play at Creekside tonight at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.TeTea
