Ray “Judge” Carmichael, 81, Turin, died March 3, 2005. He was born Feb. 27,1925 in Turin, son of Arthur and Effie Jane Carmichael. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army in the European Theatre. In Germany, he received a Bronze Star. After the war, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the battleship USS Boxer, which operated in the Western Pacific, visiting Japan, Okinawa, the Philippines and China. He later worked for the United States Postal Service, General Motors and the Southern Railroad. He was a member of the Turin United Methodist Church. Services were at the Jones Funeral Home chapel with interment at Senoia City Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Jeannette Carmichael; sons, Wayne Carmichael, and Robert and Laura Carmichael; daughters, Brenda and Doug Latimer, and Debbie Pece; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Jones Funeral Home, Newnan, was in charge. login to post comments |
