Mickey and Cheryl Joiner of Tyrone announce the engagement of their daughter, Heather, to Jay Hughes, son of Becky and Skip Hughes of Peachtree City.

Heather is a 1996 graduate of Sandy Creek High School and has earned a bachelor’s degree from the State University of West Georgia in psychology. She is presently employed by a local optometrist.

The groom-elect is a 1993 graduate of McIntosh High School. He has earned a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Columbus State University and is currently employed at the Peachtree City Police Department.

The couple will wed at Dunaway Gardens in Newnan on May 6.
