Landmark Christian varsity baseball coach Todd Eubanks and Sandy Creek varisty baseball coach Eddy Householder have to be pleased with the way their teams are playing in the first week of the 2006 season.

Landmark’s bats are red hot. They defeated Greenville 17-2 on Monday and then beat Creekside 10-2 on Tuesday. Miles King, Matt Moody and Brandon Harris have all hit the ball well and drove in runs. Tommy Kinney and Moody both picked up wins as pitchers, with Kinney recording 16 strikeouts against Creekside. The War Eagles will face Heard County and Randolph County, Ala. this weekend before a Monday afternnon home game against Creekside.

Sandy Creek has two one run wins under their belt, one against Fayette County, which was the first one in Householder’s career at Sandy Creek, and one against Mundy’s Mill. Both wins were come from behind victories too, which is impressive for a team just starting off a season.

Against Fayette County, the Patriots got big days at the plate from Brent Brewer, Tyler Betsill and Kal Cudsik. Betsill also pitched well, though sophomore Duncan Midkiff picked up the win. Ben Hornsby picked up the win against Mundy’s Mill. One flaw in the Mundy’s Mill game was the five erros that the Patriots committed but in their two games this year, they have scored 18 runs on 20 hits. If the team cuts down on mistakes and keeps hitting the ball like they are, the sky is the limit.

Sandy Creek hosted Lovejoy last night and will host East Coweta next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
