Key region matchups and local rivalries coming soon

The East Coweta girls have a perfect 6-0 record thus far this season. On Wendesday night, the Lady Indians blanked Lovejoy 7-0. Tonight they face LaGrange and will have their biggest test on Tuesday when they travel to take on Starr’s Mill at 5:30 p.m.

The East Coweta boys have a 4-1 record. They defeated Lovejoy on Wednesday and will take on LaGrange and Starr’s Mill on the same nights as the girls games.

The Northgate boys (0-3) will play at Woodward Academy tonight after the Lady Vikings (1-1) game with the Lady War Eagles, which is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.

McIntosh’s girls (1-2) picked up their first win this week by defeating Kell 1-0. They played at Sandy Creek last night after the paper went to press and will play at Northgate on Monday.
The McIntosh boys (2-1) ranked second in AAAA, host Starr’s Mill (2-1), ranked third in AAAAA, tonight at 7:30 p.m. The Chiefs have been off all week, while the Panthers lost 4-1 to Walton on Tuesday. McIntosh will host Heritage on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.

Starr’s Mill’s girls (2-1), ranked seventh in AAAAA, defeated Walton 1-0 in penalty kicks. The Lady Panthers had a 5-3 edge in penalty kicks with Tannah Castro, Carly Banks, Adrienne Phillips, Katie Jacobsen and Gina Goforth each scoring a goal and goalkeeper Allie Matulia making some key stops. The girls will play at Newnan while the boys are at McIntosh. Both teams will host East Coweta on Tuesday.

Whitewater’s boys (3-0) are ranked fifth in AAAA. They will play at Norcross tonight and then have games at Creekside on Monday, at Sandy Creek on Tuesday and then at home against Starr’s Mill next Friday. The girls (2-0-1) are ranked third in AAAA. They will play the same schedule with games before the boys games.

Sandy Creek’s Lady Patriots (2-0-1) tied Stockbridge on Tuesday and will play at Fayette County tomorrow at noon. The boys (2-4) beat Stockbridge 5-2. They will play Fayette County at 2 p.m. tomorrow.

Fayette County’s boys (4-0) defeated Cross Keys 3-1 on Wednesday night and will play at Spalding tonight.
