The Starr’s Mill Panthers have jumped out to a 3-0 record to start the 2006 high school varsity baseball season.
After handing the Whitewater Wildcats an 8-2 loss to start the season, the Panthers defeated Pike County 3-0 on Tuesday and then beat Griffin 9-2 on Wednesday. Brian Fletcher hit his second homerun in as many days in the Pike County game, a three run blast to secure the win for pitcher Bryan Daniels. In the Griffin game, Joey Lewis hit a grand slam to help lead the way for Starr’s Mill. Pitcher Spencer Shelton picked up the win. Starr’s Mill plays at Thomas County Central tonight and will take on Lee County tomorrow at 11 a.m. The McIntosh Chiefs started the season with a 3-2 win over Mundy’s Mill. Brendan Hall struck out 11 batters over five innings. Chase Brinson and Jarrod Parker each pitched an inning with Parker picking up the win after Drew Webb drove in Nick Markhardt in the seventh. Cameron Wallis also scored in the game off of an error. The Chiefs will host Riverdale on Monday at 5:30 p.m. In other games this week, Sandy Creek improved to 2-0 after edging out Mundy’s Mill on Wednesday by a score of 9-8. It was their second one run win this week. They will host Lovejoy tonight at 7 p.m. and will host East Coweta next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. East Coweta is also 2-0 thus far. They defeated Griffin on Monday 3-2 and then blanked Morrow on Wednesday 10-0. They will play at Jonesboro tonight at 6 p.m. and will play at Whitewater on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Landmark Christian has also blasted their way to a 2-0 record to start the season. They defeated Greenville 17-2 on Monday and then beat Creekside 10-2 on Tuesday. Tommy Kinney picked up the win, pitching six innings and striking out 16 batters. That performance was good enough for a school record for strikeouts in a game. Miles King and Brandon Harris each drove in three runs in the win and Matt Moody went 2-for-2 at the plate with an RBI. Landmark will play in the Georgia/Alabama Challenge on Saturday before hosting Creekside on Monday at 4 p.m. login to post comments |
