Malcolm Hughes

Malcolm Hughes is a Certified Public Accountant who has provided community leadership for over 25 years. He earned a degree in Business Administration in 1979 from Auburn University.

Mr. Hughes is a versatile business professional having over 25 years of in-depth financial management experience in all facets of business operations and has provided professional services to federal, state, and local governmental agencies.

He has demonstrated leadership and business acumen in strategic planning and developing and implementing internal accounting control systems. His career includes providing project management in the areas of accounting, audit, and tax services to governmental agencies, non-profit entities, major corporations, small and medium sized companies, and partnerships in the private sector for over 25 years.

Mr. Hughes has worked diligently in the community, touting the need for responsibility, strong leadership, and unity.

Over the years, he has taken the opportunity to serve on various boards for community-based organizations. He is currently an executive board member with the Boy Scouts of America Atlanta Area Council and Treasurer of the Country Lake Homeowners Association.

He recently vacated his position as second vice-president with the Fayette County Branch of the NAACP and was a past vice-chairman of the board of Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Va.

Mr. Hughes previously coached AAU basketball for years in Fayette, Fulton, and DeKalb counties. His Piranha basketball teams won numerous AAU tournaments on the local and state level. More importantly, Piranha basketball was a mentoring vehicle to hundreds of youth in the community.

Malcolm is a dedicated leader in his church and his community. He has the capacity to comprehend the nuances of complex problems.

It is the community leadership, conservative business values and professional success that led his supporters to ask Mr. Hughes to represent all the citizens of Fayette County as Post 1 Commissioner.

Malcolm and his family identify with the conservative values that define Fayette County, hard work, determination, and the will to succeed.
