Robert Cully Johnston, 89, Jonesboro, died Feb. 21, 2006. He was born Aug. 6, 1916 in Derma City, Calhoun County, Miss. He was preceded in death by brothers, George Johnston, and Harvey Johnston, and sisters, Juanita McVay and Margaret MacKnight. He was a 1939 graduate of Auburn University. Services were at the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with the Rev. Dr. Dean Haun officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Margaret Baker Johnston, Jonesboro; sons, Robert Baker and Ann Johnston, Fayetteville, and David Bryan Johnston, Jonesboro; a daughter, Michelle and Chick Smith, Jonesboro; grandchildren, Lauren Johnston, and Kirsten Alday; and a great-grandchild, Jacob Alday. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
