David Wesley Redmond Sr., 63, Fayetteville, died Jan. 24, 2010 due to pancreatic cancer. He was born Jan. 13, 1947 in Belzoni, Miss. and was the youngest of four children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Mary Hawkins Redmond, and older brothers, Charles and James. He was graduated from McNair High School in Belzoni in 1965 and was the first in his family to earn a college degree. While working full time in a factory and raising four children he earned a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan State University in business administration in 1981. He worked from the BASF Corporation, retiring in 2007. He then worked for Stoller USA until his death. He held two U. S. patents. He was an avid drag racing fan and owned a drag racing car. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with Pastor Howard W. Creecy Jr. officiating. Interment was at camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife, whom he married Sept. 24, 1965, Evelyn Jean Willis Redmond, Fayetteville; a son, David Wesley and Aisha Redmond Jr., Smyrna; daughters, Gwendolyn, Novi, Mich., Pamela, Newington, Conn., Daviette Michelle and Anthony, Fayetteville; a sister, Mary and Charles Tillman, Markham, Ill.; grandchildren, Natosha, Nakia, Morgan, Marissa, and Devin; and friends, Larry Williams and Willie Welch.
