A north Fayette man was arrested Dec. 16 for assaulting his wife in her residence off Greenview Circle, sheriff’s deputies said.

Juan Manuel Romero, 36, was violating a temporary protective order in doing so, said sheriff’s Det. Brent Rowan. Romero was charged with aggravated stalking and battery (family violence).

This is not Romero’s first arrest for hurting his wife, Rowan said. Romero was also arrested Nov. 11 on a similar violation in which he also violated the temporary protective order, Rowan said.

In the Nov. 11 case Romero was charged with battery (family violence) and aggravated stalking.

In both cases, the victim received noticeable bruises, Rowan said. According to the protective order filed in Fayette County Superior Court, Romero is not to commit any violence against his wife or their children, and he must refrain from being with 500 yards of them. He was also ordered to not have any contact with the family.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Romero remained in the Fayette County Jail. A Fayette County Magistrate set his bond at $65,500. According to county records, Romero is a citizen of Mexico.

3 teens arrested in burglary

Deputies also Monday night arrested three young men for burglarizing a home off Ga. Highway 314 near North Fayette Drive. The three suspects, two of whom were juveniles, lived nearby, officials said.

The third suspect, who is considered an adult because he is 17, was named as Davin Milford. The names of the other two suspects, one 15 and the other 16, were withheld because they are considered juveniles.
