F’ville Pavilion to get more signsTue, 12/22/2009 - 4:20pm

Merchants at the Fayetteville Pavilion got some help from the Fayetteville City Council Dec. 17 when the board agreed to the installation of 11 additional monument signs along Pavilion Parkway. The effect of the recession on business sales makes the need to identify a particular business even more significant, said Developers Diversified Realty Corp. (DDRC) property manager Don Jurenek in a Nov. 16 letter. Jurenek said some stores reported that their customers had difficulty locating their specific businesses inside the expansive Pavilion Parkway area that includes 75 retailers in 44 unique buildings and stretches for nearly a mile. The approval by the City Council will provide for approximately 80 percent of tenants to have their names listed, Jurenek said. Currently only the larger retailers have their businesses posted on monument signs. City Planner Linwood Robinson recommended approval of the request, along with several conditions. He told the board that DDRC would be working with staff to develop a more comprehensive monument sign plan that would incorporate the new signage which would essentially be replicas of the existing monument signs. Robinson said the 11 new signs would conform to the same size, color and panel specifications. Jurenek as a side note during the presentation noted that there is only one “Mom and Pop” business remaining at the Fayette Pavilion. Per agreement, the new monument signs will be installed by June 30. login to post comments |
