The Rotary Club of Peachtree City named Corporal Brian Boynton as the 2009 Police Officer of the Year Saturday evening at the PTC Police Department's Christmas banquet held at Flat Creek Country Club. The selection process for officer of the year is done by peer officers. Corporal Boynton has an excellent work ethic and is known throughout the department as the “Go to Guy” when an officer is needed for special detail. Boynton was born in East Point, Georgia. After spending some time in Texas, where he graduated from Kingwood High School, he returned to Georgia to live with his mother and sister. He attended the University of Georgia and West Georgia College and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. Corporal Boynton served his country in both the Navy Reserve and the Georgia Army National Guard. Boynton joined the Peachtree City Police Department in July, 2007. After graduating from the Clayton Regional Law Enforcement Academy, he has been working as a police officer assigned to the Patrol Division. Boynton has done an excellent job as a patrol officer and in a number of special operation assignments. He is also an active member of the Peachtree City Police Department’s SWAT team. He is the first to volunteer for any special assignment and enjoys being involved in all aspects of police work. Boynton holds the number one spot in the department this year for arrests and traffic enforcement. Being a very serious and loyal officer, Boynton states his mission as, the safety of this community. Corporal Brian Boynton is a tremendous asset to the Peachtree City Police Department, plans for a long career in the law enforcement field and is well deserving of this special recognition. |
