Peachtree City’s Community Development Division is hosting a special seminar for owners of rental property to help them keep their sites “safe and free of illegal activity.” The Landlord Training Seminar will be Friday, Jan. 29 from 1-4:30 p.m. at City Hall. The training program is designed for rental property owners of one and two-family dwellings who own and manage their own properties. The seminar will cover such issues as landlord/tenant law, screening applicants, property maintenance regulations, leases, the role of the police, crisis resolutions, and evictions. In addition to Peachtree City Code Enforcement, the Peachtree City Police Department, the Fayette County Magistrates Office, and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs will make presentations at the class. “Peachtree City has such a high focus on the quality of our neighborhoods that a session like this is very important,” said Peachtree City housing code official Tami Babb. “Lack of building maintenance, destruction of property, and drug activity can contribute to neighborhood decay, and end up costing more for the landlord. There are accessible, legitimate techniques that can stop the spread of illegal activity and property damage at rental properties.” The seminar is free of charge to Peachtree City rental property owners, but participants must pre-register. Participants who do not own property in Peachtree City must pay a $15 fee for the manual. Class size is limited to 20 participants. The deadline to register for the seminar is January 8. Registration forms are available at the Community Development Division Office, 153 Willowbend Road (downstairs at City Hall) and on the city’s web site, www.Peachtree-City.org. login to post comments |
