Christmas is getting closer, but there’s still time for residents to help provide a better holiday for local underprivileged children.

The Peachtree City Police Department will be collecting new, unwrapped toys at several locations this week for their “Light Up the Night” toy drive.
Gifts collected will go to children of needy families identified by local schools and with help from the Department of Family and Children Services.

At each location, officers from the police department will be on hand to collect the toys. The officers’ vehicles will have their blue lights flashing to draw attention to the toy drive.

The locations and dates for the toy drive are:

• Saturday, Dec. 12 at the Kedron Target from 2-5 p.m. and at the Braelinn Kroger from 4-7 p.m.

• Wednesday, Dec. 16 and Thursday, Dec. 17 at Wal-Mart from 4-7 p.m.

• Sunday, Dec. 20 at The Avenue shopping center.

Citizens may also make any donations at the Peachtree City Police Department headquarters located at 350 South Hwy. 74.
