Senoia city portrait to be taken Jan. 1Thu, 12/10/2009 - 4:33pm
By: Ben Nelms
It was almost 10 years ago that crowds gathered in downtown Senoia to be a part of the Millennium picture taken on Main Street. The many changes this decade resulted in a request by the Senoia Historical Society and the approval by the City Council to have a new Portrait of Senoia taken on Jan. 1. The approval at the Dec. 7 meeting came with the decision to close Main Street between Travis and Seavy from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. so that everyone interested can be present and included in the photo. Prints of the “Stand By Me” photo will be available from the historical society. Also at the meeting, Councilman Jeff Fisher was appointed as the city’s representative to the Coweta County Library Board. The Dec. 7 meeting would not have been complete without a reminder of what has become an annual visit of the Clyesdales will take place on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 1-3 p.m. As is customary, the gentle giants will make their way through the downtown area. Dec. 7 will also be the date for the Tour of Homes that will be held from 5-8 p.m. Advanced tickets are available at area merchants for $12 and will be available at the Senoia Buggy Shop on the day of the event for $15. login to post comments |
