John Austin Vincent, retired E-9 Master Chief Petty Officer, parachute rigger, United States Navy, 85, Mountain View, Calif., died Nov. 26, 2009. He was born and raised on a farm near Riverdale, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Ada Vincent, brothers. Hugh T. Vincent and R. Merrill Vincent, and a sister, Julie V. Campbell. He was proud of his 30-year career serving his country and after retirement from the Navy, he worked in real estate until the age of 80. He enjoyed spending time in his flower garden and dancing to big band music. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at College Park Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Vincent; stepson, Daniel and Jimmie Rosenbalm; a son, William Johnny Vincent; daughters, Charlotte and Charles Graham, and Darlene and Walter Williams; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his first wife, Hilda Vincent; and a stepdaughter, Bonnie Iddings. Memorial donations may be made to the local Veterans Administration Hospital. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. login to post comments |
