Noted civil rights legend Dr. C. T. Vivian will be the guest speaker at the 8th annual Freedom Fund Banquet, sponsored by the Fayette County NAACP Branch. The event will be on Saturday, October 29th at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center, 2443 Highway 54 in Peachtree City. Barbara Cross, survivor of the 1963 bombing of  Birmingham’s 16th Street Baptist Church that killed four little girls, and Fayette County resident Allison Henderson, a National NAACP ACT-SO winner, will serve as mistresses of ceremonies for the event.

The program begins at 7 p.m. and will include dinner, a silent auction, a book signing by author Velma Maia Thomas, and a dance following the banquet. Fayette Schools Superintendent Dr. John Decotis, and Mr. Christopher Mandella Bynes, a senior at Sandy Creek High School, will be presented with the Community Service Award.
