ACS girls in Final Four

After finishing the regular season 20-3, Arlington Christian School varsity girls basketball team is headed to the Final Four. The Lady Eagles faced Pinewood Christian Academy at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville on Thursday after the paper went to press.

Coached by Terry Stephens of Douglasville and Ross Anderson of Fairburn, the starters include Sonya Perry, Jennifer Coats, Kristen McGuffey, Victoria Range and Marissa Stewart. They are supported by teammates Rebekah Perkins, Gabrielle Buck, Bianca Battle, Jessica Hurst and Shaina Moreland.

After placing second in region tournament play at LaGrange Academy, the state Tournament began at Middle Georgia College in Cochran. Arlington defeated Briarwood Academy,54-48. Perry was the high scorer with 14 points, followed by Range with 12.

In second round action Feb. 17, the Lady Eagles beat Fulling Academy, 39-22.

According to Athletic Director Greg Cannon, the Arlington team “has put together an incredible record. Our school has been close in past years with some real standouts, but this team has come together and played with incredible determination. Our fans, cheerleaders and ACS Booster Club have done a great job to help us get to this place,” he said.
