By: John Munford
PTC police collecting toys at Kedron Village Peachtree City police will be at the Kedron Village shopping center Wednesday and Thursday collecting new unwrapped toys for underprivileged children in the area. As part of the “Light Up the Night” toy drive, officers will be parked in front of Planet Smoothie and the Target store from 4-7 p.m. The blue lights will be flashing for a good cause to help draw attention to the campaign. The department hopes to fill up the bed of its Ford F-250 pickup with donated toys. Additional donation locations will be available throughout the weeks prior to Christmas, and these locations will be announced through media releases and the department’s I-Net electronic alert system. Citizens may also make any donations at the Peachtree City Police Department headquarters located at 350 South Hwy 74. Gifts collected will go to children of needy families identified by local schools and with help from the Department of Family and Children Services. If the family wants, police officers in marked vehicles will make the special delivery ... or they can choose to have the gifts wrapped and presented in a low-key manner, organizers said. Several businesses have partnered with the police department for the toy drive. Anyone interested in doing so is asked to contact Capt. Stan Pye or Capt. Rosanna Dove at 770-487-8866. login to post comments |
