TubaChristmas in Fairburn on Dec. 5Tue, 11/24/2009 - 3:44pm
By: The Citizen
TubaChristmas will be held for the first time in Fairburn on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. at the campus of Georgia Military College on Highway 29. Tuba and euphonium players of all ages gather to perform Christmas carols and music of the season with a warm, rich organ-like sound. Concert is free and open to the public. For more information, or if you’re interested in performing with us, visit www.tubachristmas.com. TubaChristmas is celebrating its 36th anniversary (1974-2009). Created by the renown tubist of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, Harvey Phillips, TubaChristmas honors the late great tubist, William J. Bell. Every Christmas season, tuba and euphonium players of all areas gather to pay respect to Dr. Bell by forming choirs of tubas and euphoniums to perform Christmas carols. This year, over 200 cities and towns across the United States will host a TubaChristmas event, and this year is the first year for Fairburn, Georgia. We encourage all tubists and euphoniumists to join us on Dec. 5, and we welcome all to come hear the warm, rich organ-like sound of a tuba-euphonium choir. login to post comments |
