HeartCry, a ministry of New Hope Baptist Church’s Orphan Ministry, Fayetteville, hosted its annual fund raiser dinner and auction on Nov. 6. This year’s theme was, “Make a House a Home,” to benefit an orphanage in Liberia. The high point of the evening was the auction of a quail hunting trip for six with Gov. Sonny Perdue, to include lodging and meals in a private location. The winning bid was $6,000, which was sufficient to cover the cost of 50 bunk beds for the newly constructed, Gold Child Orphanage in Liberia. Ashley Stoll, missionary to Liberia, through Orphan Relief and Rescue, brought the story of the plight of Liberian orphans to all in attendance. She shared stories, pictures and videos of what Orphan Relief and Rescue is accomplishing in Liberia. Several major corporations, local businesses and artists contributed their resources and time which resulted in a huge successful event attended by approximately 380 people and raising over $28,000. The entire amount raised is slated to go towards furnishing beds, latrines, showers, linen, mosquito nets, dishes, etc., to Gold Child Orphanage in Liberia, West Africa. login to post comments |
