James Early "Bub" Carden, 83, Woolsey, died Nov. 12, 2009. He was born Dec. 3, 1925 to George Otis and Aubra Gill Carden. He was preceded in death by brothers, Dan Carden, Don Carden, and Dave Carden, and a sister, Louise Fredrickson. He was one of 10 children and was not schooled past third grade in order to help on the family farm. When it came to ailing cars, cows, trucks or tractors, he had an uncanny knack for knowing just what to do to get them going again. He was a mechanic and cattleman by trade, a fun-loving family man, and beloved pillar of his home community of Woolsey. This is a town he helped shape through his service as a councilmember for 25 years Earlier this year he was honored by the Farm Bureau for a lifetime of service to the agricultural community around Fayette County. He was a member of the Davidson Masonic Lodge No. 334 F&AM. Services were at the Carl J. Mowell chapel with interment at Camp Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Doris Lynch Carden, Woolsey; sons, Douglas and Elaine Carden, Tyrone, Frank and Fay Carden, Woolsey, and Ray Carden, Fayetteville; a daughter, Judy and Mike Lathem, Woolsey; brothers, Weldon Carden, L. M. Carden, Burnice Carden, and Windol Carden; a sister, Helen Callaway; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Carl J.
