Starting Nov. 27, all fire stations in Fayetteville and unincorporated Fayette County, along with several in Peachtree City, will be accepting new, unwrapped toys for the annual U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign.

A box will be located at each station to accept the gifts. The guidelines for donated toys are they must be new, unwrapped and for boys or girls up to age 12.

Donations received through Dec. 15 will be used this Christmas, while those afterward will be used at a later date, organizers said. The campaign will accept toys until Dec. 23, but early donations are most appreciated as they endeavor to meet the Christmas wishes of boys and girls in the Atlanta area this holiday season.

Cash donations may be made online only and gift cards are not accepted by the Toys for Tots program.

The campaign is also looking for volunteers and they may sign up by visiting www.atlantatoysfortots.com. That website can also be used by parents to request toys for their children.

Over its 62 years, Marines have used the Toys for Tots program to distribute more than 400 million toys to more than 188 million needy children.

The children are identified through the help of social welfare agencies, church groups and other local community agencies who not only identify the needy children but also play important roles in toy distribution.

New, unwrapped toys for children ages 12 and under may be dropped off at the following locations:
