Brooks UMC BBQ, bake sale planned
Brooks United Methodist Church will hold its annual barbecue and bake sale Saturday, Nov. 21, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. offering barbecue, Brunswick stew and all the trimmings .The ladies will sell homemade desserts. The Second Chance Thrift Shop will offer a shopping bonanza in the gym with a large selection of clothes, household items, books and Christmas decorations. Brooks UMC is at 119 Morgan Mill Rd. in Brooks, three miles south of Starr’s Mill on Ga. 85 Connector. Call for more information or go to www.brooksumc.com.

Pancake breakfast is this Saturday
First Baptist Church of Jonesboro will host a Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the 12th grade Sunday school department this Saturday, Nov. 21, from 7:30 - 10:30 a.m. The cost is $5 per person and includes pancakes, bacon, choice of fruit and beverages. The event will be held at the church’s Outreach Center, 148 Church St., Jonesboro, across from the church office.

Gospel Proclaimers to perform
The Gospel Proclaimers will perform this Sunday, Nov. 22, at 6 p.m. at Flat Creek Baptist Church. Those attending are asked to bring canned goods to the performance. The Fayette Samaritans are in need of a new supply of this item. Flat Creek is on Flat Creek Trail between Ga. Hwy. 54 and Tyrone Road.

Carriage Lane concert is Dec. 19
Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City will present the Christian musical group ‘Jars of Clay’ along with Bebo Norman and the Henry Brothers in concert Saturday, Dec. 19, at 7 p.m., as part of its Peachtree Arts Academy concert series. Jars of Clay will perform some of their signature songs as well as songs from their Christmas album. Early ticket purchase is advised. For tickets, go to www.peachtreearts.org.

Loving Choices group meets in PTC
GraceLife Ministries at First Baptist Church in Peachtree City offers a women’s support group, Loving Choices, which meets on Thursday nights from 7-8:30 p.m. The group is free, is open to women of all ages, and provides free childcare. GraceLife Support groups are for those who struggle with or who are in recovery from grief, anger, alcohol, drug and sexual addictions. GraceLife currently offers Men’s Freedom from addictions, Grief Share, and Loving Choices. Groups meet at First Baptist Church Peachtree City, 208 Willowbend Rd., Thursday nights from 7-8:30 p.m. For more information, call 770-487-8133.

Food available at New Beginnings
Those who need emergency food packages, may call the Good Shepherd Food Pantry at New Beginnings Praise and Worship Center, 404-405-8802. The ministry strives to help the needy to receive food for their families in their time of need. The center also accepts donations of non perishable items to the food pantry. New Beginnings is at 1091 South Jeff Davis Dr., Fayetteville.

Community Christian collecting for holidays
Community Christian Church, 349 Kenwood Rd., Fayetteville, is collecting non-perishable foods and new, unwrapped toys to share with Fayette Samaritans and the Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots program for local distribution.
