Geo and Angie Rutland of Senoia announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristen Brooke Rutland, to Nikolas William Carlson of Franklin, Mass., son of Peter and Deby Carlson.

The bride-to-be is a 2002 graduate of Starr’s Mill High School. She attended the University of Massachusetts on a soccer scholarship, graduating in 2006 with a B.A. in English and a certificate from the secondary teaching education program. She currently is a seventh grade teacher and soccer coach at Fayette Middle School.

The groom-elect is a 2002 graduate of Whitensville Christian School. He played soccer for four years while attending Gordon College and earned his degree in business management. He currently is a manager and soccer coach for John Smith Sports Center.

The wedding will be June 5, 2010, at the Peachtree City home of Byron and Ernie Sturgis, grandparents of the bride-to-be.

After the wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Carlson will reside in Blackstone, Mass.
