The City of Newnan Police Department honors its Officer of the Year with the 2009 Newnan Coweta Jaycee Officer of the Year Award. Sgt. Charles Stapler received the award at the annual Newnan Coweta Jaycee Dinner on Nov. 7.

To receive this honor the officer has to be voted for by their fellow officers.

“Sergeant Stapler’s fellow officers noted on their votes how he always went above what was asked of him and how he was always there to assist them with any problems in the patrol car communications or mobile data units. We are proud of Sergeant Stapler and the extra mile and effort he puts into his job everyday for the Newnan Police Department. He serves the public well and takes his oath to heart daily,” said Newnan Police Chief Douglas ‘Buster’ Meadows.
