Encore! Fayette Senior Leadership Program is currently recruiting older adults, retired or semi-retired for its second class scheduled to begin in January 2010.

It is a program of Fayette Family Connection Collaborative, or FACTOR, and is a lifelong learning program in partnership with Clayton State University Continuing Education Department. The 10 week course is designed to provide active, community spirited older adults with the opportunity of learn more about their community, the issues and challenges its faces, to identify the community's primary needs and determine how they can become productively involved in making a difference. Based on the quality of the course content, Clayton State credits go to those completing the course.

Information presentations will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 17 beginning at 9:30 a.m. at Towne Club, Peachtree City, Monday, Nov. 23 beginning at 11 a.m. at Fayette Senior Services, Fayetteville, and Wed. Dec. 2 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Peachtree City United Methodist Church.

The 32 graduates of the 2009 inaugural class have already yielded 25 active alumni using their skills, talents, and resources to work with organizations and agencies, city and county government in a wide variety of capacities. Since starting their class in January, 2009, these volunteers have already given almost 6,000 hours in community service.

The program is one day each week over a 10-week period during the months of January, February and March, 2010.
