The Rev. Wilson V. Williams, 92, Fayetteville, died Nov. 2, 2009. He was born Sept. 11, 1917 in Memphis, Tenn., and moved to Atlanta in 1939. He served in the United States Merchant Marine in World War II and was retired from Delta Airlines after 35 years of service in 1979. He completed his seminary training at Georgia State University and was pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Villa Rica from 1957 to 1960. He later served as pastor at Starr's Mill Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist Church, both in Fayetteville, and also pastor of Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Union City. He was in the Lord's service for over 40 years. He was a gifted gardener and loved to grow and harvest vegetables with his wife for their friends and family. Services were at Lisbon Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlton Swicegood and the Rev. Randall Harris officiating. Interment was at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lorine Cumby Williams, Fayetteville; a son, Lanny and Vickie Williams; a daughter, Sandra Cannella, Tampa; grandchildren, Cash Wilson Cannella, Tedra Cannella and Bret Hobson, Deana Nicole Williams, and Dr. Jason Creel; and great-granddaughters Olivia and Alyssa Creel. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. login to post comments |
