For five years the Fayetteville Police Department has made a difference in the lives of children during the Christmas season. Again this year officers hope the community will help with donations for “Christmas with the Police.”

Fayetteville Police have interviewed and selected a dozen families again this year that may not be able to have Christmas otherwise and to celebrate the holidays with them, said spokesperson Debbie Chambers.

Officers of the police department are meeting with family members to get gift ideas. They will then shop for gifts for the families, Chambers said. Members of the department and the families will have Christmas dinner at Stevi B’s, open presents and go to Dixieland Amusement Park, she added.

The cut-off for donations is Dec. 1.

Any individual or business interested in making a monetary or gift card donation to the program is asked to contact Lieutenant Debbie Chambers at 770-461-4441.
