Incumbent Senoia City Council members Larry Owens and Jeff Fisher retained their seats Nov. 3 in a three-way race that included Rockaway Road area challenger Harry Ramos.

Fisher received 219 votes, incumbent Larry Owens received 172 votes and challenger Harry Ramos received 128 votes.

Fisher had been appointed to serve on the council earlier this year to fill the vacancy left by Councilman Keith Harrison who resigned his position.

Newcomer Ramos said previously he was running because he had always been interested in local government and would like to be a part of it.

And in Palmetto, voters by a margin of 158 to 9 approved a homestead exemption for for residents aged 65 and older. The exemption is for $25,000 of the assessed value of the home for those older adults whose income, not including retirement, does not exceed $16,000.

Also in Palmetto voters 97 to 70 defeated a measure that would have allowed Sunday sales of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages by the glass.
