Coweta County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is hosting and the National Weather Service (NWS) is presenting a SkyWarn Storm Spotter class November 10th from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. at South Metro Ministries located at 3935 Ga. Highway 34 East 34 iin Sharpsburg. Info will cover storm identification, reporting and associated weather safety rules. Contact Jay Jones at (770) 254-2650 for more details and to register. SkyWarn is a program the NWS uses to improve severe storm warnings. Trained volunteers serve as storm spotters, passing on vital "ground truth" information to forecasters during severe weather episodes. They are the eyes and ears not only for forecasters, but for their whole community. SkyWarn volunteers come from all walks of life but they all have generally two things in common, an interest in the weather, and an interest in serving their community, Jones said. Jones said South Metro Ministries is a Smoke Free Facility. login to post comments |
