My name is Barbara Bohanon, and I am a candidate for the Union City Council.  I want your vote.  You may ask, "Why should I vote for you?"  Here's why:  I'm qualified, experienced and dedicated.  In 16 years on the Council, I have researched each and every issue that has come before me and voted to initiate sound policies and laws to meet the needs of our citizens.  I don't  automatically rubber stamp every action before the Council, and you shouldn't want me to.  I believe that knowledge--not who you know--is the key before casting a vote.  You can trust that my decision on any public policy will be my own--not someone else's.  I'll admit that there are some individuals who use poor tactics to turn voters against candidates.  Their methods focus on prejudice, sabotage or simply smearing outright falsehoods and fabrications.  I ask each of you to get to know the candidates before you cast your vote, then, vote for those will make wise and informed decisions in the interests of everyone, not just a few.  That is my pledge.
