Most areas of county have 25 percent of residents earning less than $1,200 a month

Newly-released data from the Atlanta Regional Commission shows that the lion’s share of Fayette County residents have jobs earning more than $3,400 a month.

The data also revealed that most of Fayette County has a significant percentage of residents who are deemed “low earners” because they make up to $1,200 a month. Nearly the entire county has between 24.7-30.1 percent of residents who earn $1,200 a month.

The only exception to that data was a tiny area in northwest Fayette County that had such workers in the 22.5-24.6 percent range.

Nearly the entire county has between 36.5 and 45.7 percent of its residents tabbed as earning more than $3,400 a month, which works out to just under $41,000 a year.

Two specific areas of Fayette County have an even higher percentage of those high-income earners, with 45.8 to 67.5 percent earning more than $3,400 a month. One such area takes up much of northwest Peachtree City and extends into the southwest corner of Tyrone. The other is on the southeast border of Peachtree City including a small part of the city and homes along south Redwine Road.

Another area of the county has a lower percentage of residents meeting the $3,400 mark. In a swath of land encompassing part of east Fayetteville extending to the Fayette-Clayton county line, between 29.9 and 36.4 percent of residents have jobs earning more than $3,400 a month.

The data also shows that most of Fayette County has a percentage of retail workers above 10.4 percent. According to the ARC, the average retail employee’s salary is $2,000 a month.

The highest concentration of retail workers in Fayette County is immediately south of Fayetteville, a district that records such employees at a rate between 13.8 and 18.1 percent.
