Daughter honored by community caring

I need to thank Fayette County and beyond for the way they have honored my daughter, Ashleigh Webster, and loved our family.

Leigh took her life on Friday, Feb. 3, 2006. The community and our church, Dogwood Church, were there for us every minute of the day and night. Food, help, and visitation were ever present.

The thing that impressed me the most was her memorial service on Feb. 8. The best guess is that about 1,200 people came to the church. Seats were gone by 1:40 for the 2 p.m. service, forcing hundreds of people to stand in the back, sit on the floor, or listen from the foyer. Each and every person who came honored my Ashleigh and has my deep gratitude.

The service ended at about 3, but hundreds of wonderful people waited in a very long line to greet us. I finished speaking with the last person at 5:25. I heard many kids share how, as new students to McIntosh, Leigh would go up and talk to them, making them feel welcome and comfortable. It was a special time that I will prize for the rest of my life.

God is good and somehow He will get me through this. There appears to be no limit to the amount of tears one person can shed.

But I know that I, and all who knew her, will cherish the time God gave us together. We will reunite someday in heaven. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart with love and would treasure hearing from those who knew her.
