We have a large field of candidates for City Council in the upcoming election. For those who might not otherwise be familiar, Kim Learnard and Les Dyer are two candidates whose character and integrity are beyond reproach. As a citizen, Kim Learnard has been a “hands-on” participant with a zeal and passion for effecting positive change in our community. She has attended City Council and school board meetings where she has had the courage to speak out on behalf of the taxpayer, even in confronting district Superintendent John DeCotis face-to-face regarding his exorbitant salary. Les Dyer is a volunteer fireman in our community and a fellow member of the Daedalian Society, a Rotary-type organization that also gives back to the community. He served in our military, rising to become one of the extremely rare individuals to fly the SR-71 Blackbird, one of the fastest military aircraft ever built with a capability of traveling at 3.5 times the speed of sound. Beyond all this, and knowing both candidates as I do, there is no telling what they can do for our community as elected City Council members. They both exude incredible energy as individuals which they will undoubtedly harness in holding our local government accountable to its citizenry. I highly recommend your consideration of them in this crucial election. Ralph P. Trapaga Peachtree City, Ga. login to post comments |
