William Harold Taylor, 90, Fayetteville, formerly of East Point, died Oct. 21, 2009.He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Willie Mae Taylor, who died in 2003. He was a veteran of World War II and served at Pacific Fleet Headquarters under Admiral Chester Nimitz. He was later assigned to United States Naval Intelligence in San Diego. He was retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company with 33 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Fayetteville, and a former lifelong member of First Baptist Church of East Point. He was a member of the East Point Masonic Lodge #288 F&AM for over 50 years. He was a past president of the East Point Lions Club, a charter member of the East Point Historical Society, and served as treasurer and a member of its board of directors, as well as a director of East Point Chamber of Commerce. Services were at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include daughters, Jane Taylor, Gulf Shores, Ala., Margaret Taylor and Alfredo G. Garcia, Tyrone; grandchildren, Alfredo R. Garcia, Newnan, and Catherine Taylor Garcia, Vail, Ariz. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Lighthouse for the Blind. Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge. login to post comments |
