Youth ages 7 - 13, mark your calendars because The Twilight Theatre is holding auditions for Babes in Toyland, a one-act musical based on the classic play by Victor Herbert. The show is a production of Twilight’s Apprentice Company, a group of middle-school and high-school age youth who have been selected to become apprentices based on their experience, referrals, and interview. The Apprentice Company provides hands-on opportunities for youth to learn more about all aspects of theatre.

Twilight Apprentice, Maggie Spears extends her theatrical experience as Director of Babes in Toyland under the adult supervision of Dana Spears, Coordinator of Twilight’s Apprentice Company. Apprentices who have expressed a desire to learn more about costuming have already begun designing elaborate costumes that they will then create.

What better way to usher in the 2009 holiday season than with the March of the Toy Soldiers. (Rumor has it the battle will be fiercely fought with  marshmallow guns and candy canes.) Babes in Toyland is sure to delight audiences with wicked, wicked villains and good, good heroes; lots of humor; fun and famous music; and a happy ending . . . just in time for Christmas.

Auditions will be held at the Fayetteville Depot from 6 to 8 p.m. on October 28 with callbacks at 8 p.m. that same night. Visit www.TheTwilightTheatre.com for directions, a list of characters, and rehearsal information.
