Celebrates 5 Years in Fayette County!

Your local Club Z! office is proud to announce that they’ve reached a major milestone in education-over 1,000 students served! Since November of 2004, Club Z! has helped over 1000 students in Fayette County achieve their academic best by overcoming obstacles to learning.

More than 300 highly qualified tutors have taught over 35,000 hours of one-on-one instruction, helping students increase their grades an average of 2 letter grades in 60 days.

“When we opened this location of Club Z! In Home Tutoring, we never realized what a big impact we could have on the community” says Peggy Thomas, Owner and Director of Club Z!. “My husband and I struggled with finding help for our son who has a learning disability. We were interested in a home-based business and as soon as we saw the program we knew it was right for us.”

Joe Thomas, Co-Director says “Peggy did a lot of research on what type of supplemental education was the most effective. One-on-one tutoring clearly brought the best results. Although parents are frequently able to find a teacher at their school, Club Z! offers the convenience of having us search for and carefully select the perfect tutor that the parents would have chosen for their child. Then, we send the tutor to their home, relieving the stress of driving all over town.”

The Thomas family moved to Fayette County in September 2001 because of the excellent local schools. Shortly after arriving, Joe, an Air Force Reserve Officer, was deployed for almost two years to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. One of Peggy’s goals during Joe’s absence was to find a way to give back to the community that supported her family. As a result, Club Z! is proud to have provided over $40,000 in scholarships, supplies and monetary support to local schools and students.

Owning a local business has led to other opportunities to become more involved in the community. Peggy serves on the Advisory Board of Directors of the United Way, as Chair of the Partners in Education Committee, and will join the Fayette Chamber Board in January. She looks forward to continuing to work towards the continuing improvement of educational outcomes for all students in Fayette County.

According to local school counselor Sonya Tucker, “Club Z!’s value to the students and parents of McIntosh High School cannot be adequately expressed in words. They don’t just tutor, they change lives.” It’s the outpouring of support such as this that led to Club Z! being selected as a 2008-2009 Outstanding Partner in Education.

The Club Z! motto is “Changing the world, one student at a time.” Peggy and Joe Thomas are doing just that in Fayette County.
