Members of Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City will observe the weekend of Oct. 23-25 as a church-wide service event, “Out the Door ... With Open Hearts ... To Serve the Lord.”

The congregation will worship together only once that weekend, at 3 p.m. on Sunday at The Bridge in Peachtree City.

Throughout the weekend members of all ages will participate in a variety of ministries, from knitting afghans for Afghanistan to picking up litter on cart paths and athletic fields to distributing Halloween bags at an assisted-living facility to doing construction work at Christian City.

The community is invited to take advantage of other events also. Seasonal flu shots ($30) and pneumonia shots ($45) will be given on Friday from 2-6 p.m. at the church. For appointments, call 770-487-8717.

A bake sale of homemade delicacies will take place at the church on Friday afternoon during those same hours, then at the Crosstown Kroger on Saturday, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Free document shredding will be offered on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., and a Give-and-Take Swap Meet will be offered at the church Saturday from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The church is at the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Highway 54 in Peachtree City.

Prior to the service weekend, members were invited to suggest projects, and coordinators have been secured to manage each one.

Groups who planned the weekend are the church’s Social Services Ministry, evangelism and stewardship teams.

Red tee-shirts will identify volunteers as they pick up trash, make repairs and tackle more than two dozen projects. Worship closes the weekend, on Sunday at 3 p.m. at The Bridge.
