East Coweta High School received academic honors Tuesday as a Region 4AAAAA winner in the statewide effort to improve SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) scores. The announcement was made by Gov. Sonny Perdue and state School Superintendent Kathy Cox.

“Our students have stepped up to the challenge and worked hard to raise SAT scores,” said Governor Perdue.

Georgia’s Class AAAAA high schools include eight regions, with East Coweta taking the honors for Regions 4.

Northside High School and Savannah Arts Academy tied for state Class AAAAA champion.

Governor Perdue initiated the statewide competition in 2003 as part of an overall effort to raise Georgia’s SAT scores.
