Ten year old Skylar Nicholson, newcomer to Fayette County, will be performing at Dollywood Theme Park in Pigeon Forge, TN, during the upcoming Christmas season. Skylar will be playing the role of a young girl in the professional show “O Holy Night.” The role will have her telling the Christmas Story with her on-stage grandfather. The show will also include a live Nativity Scene. This is just one of the many shows Dollywood will be performing this holiday season. Nicholson has always been a huge fan of Dolly Parton and thinks it is extra special to be performing in her Theatres. She describes this opportunity as “a Double Blessing from God!” “Not only am I getting to do what I love and tell the most amazing story ever written, I am spending ten weeks in one of my favorite places in the whole world, The great Smokey Mountains,” said Nicholson. She went on to say that Christmas has always been one of her favorite times of the year, and although she will miss local traditions, she is excited about making new friends, memories, and the frequent snow showers that occur in the Mountain area. Nicholson is the daughter of James and Lisa Nicholson, and the granddaughter of Ralph and Joan Duncan. Her family and grandparents will also be accompanying her. Her parents, who are local Real Estate agents and partners with the Bush Real Estate Group, will commute back and forth during the show. “We have a real close family and my grandparents are also coming to help out,” aid Nicholson. “I am really lucky to have so many people supporting me and helping me reach my goals.” Nicholson has been performing since she was four. Although she has a huge passion for live performing, she is also pursuing a film career in both Georgia and Los Angeles. Nicholson is a regular performer and student at The Legacy Professional Theatre in Tyrone, Ga. and a current competitive dancer with the Doris Russell School of Dance. She also continues to study voice and piano. Nicholson attended Landmark Christian School until her performing schedule required her to be home-schooled this year. Dollywood will open its Christmas season on November 5, 2009 and run through January 3, 2010.
