Walking on the cart path across from McIntosh High School in the morning or afternoon is flirting with danger.

The head-on traffic is scary enough, but from behind can be terrifying as the kids whiz by in near-miss mode without signaling.

Eventually someone is going to be seriously injured. How can we encourage them to give the required audible signal?

Perhaps a police officer walking on the path and handing out citations would work. Make a few bucks for the city and probably save a life.

Hey, it might even be a wake-up call for mom and dad who also fail to signal when approaching from behind.
