Tyrone’s Hopewell United Methodist Church is sponsoring a “Festive Fall Decorations Contest.” Anyone with a Tyrone address is eligible to participate and vie for the title of “Most Festive Fall Decorations.” First prize will be $100 and second prize will be $50. “Hopewell is striving to make Tyrone the most festive of all Fayette County municipalities,” a spokesperson said. There is no fee to participate in the contest but contestants need to pick up a form at the church, 351 Jenkins Rd., across from Sandy Creek High, or go to the church web site, www.hopewell-umc.org, and print the form. Return the forms to the church by Oct. 14 to be a contestant. Judging will be conducted on Oct. 17 and the results will be available on the web site the following day. Every attempt will also be made to have a photo of the winning entry appear in the local newspapers. “We hope you and your neighbors will plan to participate in this event and help make Tyrone the Most Festive Town in Fayette County!” the spokesperson said. To help with decorating schemes, the church will be selling pumpkins at the annual Pumpkin Patch Festival.Pumpkin sales will begin Oct. 2 and will continue throughout the month of October.
