Reading workshop for parents planned
St. Andrew’s in the Pines Episcopal Dayschool will host a reading workshop for parents Friday, Oct. 2, from 11 a.m. until noon. A Fayette County reading specialist will teach parents techniques and tricks to help their child learn to read. The cost of the workshop is $5 and childcare is provided. Edgefield celebrates anniversary
Edgefield Baptist church will celebrate 139-plus years with activities kicking off Friday, Oct. 2 at 7 p.m with guest speaker the Rev. Allen. Other activities are planned for Sunday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Sewell, Saturday, Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Baker, Friday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Downing, and ending Sunday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. with guest speaker the Rev. Simmons. Edgefield Baptist Church is at 140 Church St. in Fayetteville.

Fall Gospel Meeting starts Sunday
Middle Fayette Church of Christ will host a Fall Gospel Meeting, “One Another Christianity,” with Philip Satterfield from the Macland Road Church of Christ in Marietta. Services will be on Sunday Oct. 4, with Bible classes at 9 a.m., morning worship at 10 a.m., and evening worship at 6 p.m. Evening services Monday through Wednesday will be at 7 p.m. The church is at 372 North Glynn St., Fayetteville. COS plans Service of Hope
A bimonthly service of Hope will be offered Monday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City. Begun ten years ago as healing services, their focus is on prayer, encouragement and include Holy Communion. The church’s flute choir will provide music throughout the service. The church is at Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway.

After school ‘Good News’ club begins
Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church started its after-school Good News Club at Sara Harp Minter Elementary on Monday, Sept. 28. The club will meet each Monday through May 3, 2010. Sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship of Georgia, the club is open to all Sara Harp Minter Elementary students from first to fifth grade. Pick up applications in the school foyer or at the church.
